Sarah Hammond's Circus Tracks

as part of WaterTower Theatre's
Out of the Loop Festival
March 9, 10, & 13, 2013

At the "heartbroke circus," clowns and trapeze artists have to smuggle their newly-born children out of the circus to avoid the wrath of the ringleader. One of these children, Dewey, sets off on an Odyssean voyage across a freak-studded desert to find her real mother, a clown. Along her journey, she encounters a deformed trapeze artist tangled in his ropes, a dancing cavelady-transvestite, a psychic who cannot see, and a boy who makes wildly imaginative sounds with only his mouth. An ensemble fairy-tale for adults, Circus Tracks takes audiences on a misfit-filled existential search for meaning, identity, and family.

Reviews
Lawson Taitte (Dallas Morning News) called Circus Tracks "...wildly imaginative..." and said that "The seven actors under director Becca Johnson-Spinos are all terrific."

Mary L. Clark (John Garcia's The Column) said that Circus Tracks was "visual art at its highest, ensemble acting at its most sublime, an imaginative story at its peak of entertainment." "The seats in the Main Stage at WaterTower Theatre should have included belts so the audience could strap in for one of the most unusual, colorful, imaginative, thought-provoking and enjoyable rides of their lives." "Outcry Theatre's production is a wonderment of imagination and pure, child-like fun."
